We have a secret member?

The secret is out, we have a honorary member. His name is Douglas (Doug for short) and he’s been with us since day one. He helps us get places and always lends us a shoulder to laugh, cry, and sleep on.

If you’re wondering what he looks like, Doug is a big white van and we could not live without him. And yes, we did take the special time to name him at our first band meeting. Here are some of our top favorite moments with Doug:

Love at first sight

We met Doug and each other for the first time on a cold December morning and took him for a spin around town. This is the moment we all fell in love with him.

“Bouncy Bouncy”

Setting up a new rehearsal/office space comes along with a lot of assembling which means mountains of boxes and trash. We piled all of the trash into the car and drove it to the dumpster. There were a few speed bumps which means a little bit of bouncing… This lead to Shane’s iconic phrases “bouncy bouncy” which means that if you’re in the car with him, you better watch your head. For example:

A slight mishap

On the afternoon of February 29th, we received an alarming group text from our manager Shane accompanied by photos. Here is what his text said:

“Two things. I’m at the bank and the line is 5ever long. 2, I fell out of the van today but I didn’t get that hurt.

I was crawling out from the back row looking for a package (Kim’s dress) and I tripped over the seat belt.

Then I thought I’d just fall into the door, but turns out it wasn’t closed (both side doors) so I fell through both doors with my foot still stuck on the seatbelt.”

We were concerned at first, but glad that Shane survived.

Sleep, or the lack of…

As I previously mentioned, in March we spent a full 15 hours with Doug on the road to Washington. We left at midnight and while some of us were able to enjoy a decent night's rest in the van, many did not. From most to least hours slept, here is the break down. Hailey: 8 hours. Jarom: 6 hours. Kim: 5 hours. Abi: 3 hours. Neal: 40 minutes, and Jimmy with a solid 30 minutes.

We love Doug whole heartedly and look forward to many more adventures together!!
