what in the world is a j209?
Have you heard about this J209 thing going around? No, I’m not talking about the medical term for acute bronchitis (but really, google it. It’s a thing). I’m actually talking about the new Christian A Cappella band comprised of seven passionate vocalists taking the world by storm. J209 has the focused mission to ignite the fire of faith in Christ in the rising generation. So, other young people like us!
Let’s get into everything you need to know about J209 and what you may have missed in these past six months since we embarked on this marvelous mission!
The Inspiration?
After years of inspiration and preparation, founders Garin and Kristin Hess felt it was time to initiate a mission to help youth and young adults strengthen their faith in Christ. With a myriad of trials and distractions, it can be a struggle to turn to God and feel of His love. Through uplifting Christian Contemporary music, J209 seeks to create a community of young believers and together ignite the fire of faith in Christ. Us seven vocalists believe in this mission and each personally felt called to take part of this joyful journey!
6 Months-What’s Up!?
December 9, 2023
On this frigid, early morning, we met as a band for the first time and bonded during our first photoshoot and music video filming - Priceless!
March 16, 2024
We took a 15 hour long roadtrip in the band van up to Olympia Washington to perform in the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella competition. With merely 3 months together, we were humble but hopeful. We gave it our all and God magnified our efforts to help the audience feel the important message we offered. To our shock, we were announced as audience favorite and shortly after won first place in the competition!! We feel so blessed and excited to travel to California in October for Nationals!!

Our first full-length “Best News Ever” concert.. ever!! Our amazing opener Yahosh Bonner got the crowd (and us) so pumped for the concert! The energy from the crowd was electric as soon as we walked on! We couldn’t have done it without your loving support and God permitting us to be His tools to share His joyful news! We were personally touched as we sang the words, looked out at your faces, and felt God’s infinite love for each of His children. Thank you for being a part of this experience!! Our next full-length concerts are quickly approaching at the Covey Center For The Arts on August 10th and September 14th at 7:00 pm! Whether you have joined us already or not, we’d love to see you. Tickets available here!
